Abstract


Introduction: In this last decade menarche age has shifted to younger, it is influenced by severalfactors, including internal and external factors. One of the external factors that may affect the age ofmenarche is exposure to mass media messages that are intended for adults. Moreover, the media arecurrently often contains about things smelled of sex, so that the message containing sexual contentand it can cause curiosity towards sex which would accelerate the level of maturity in adolescents. Thepurpose of this research will be graded exposure by teenage mass media messages (for adults) and theacceleration of the age of menarche. Methode: The design used is analytic because it aims to know thecorrelation relationship between exposure to mass media messages (for adults) and the accelerationage of menarche in Kesatrian I - Malang Elementary School. This research population is young womenclass IV, V and VI are already experiencing menstruation in Kesatrian I Elementary School wasunfortunate in 2012 as many as 41 children, and sample as many as 41 children with the total samplingtechniques. Analysis of data used is Fisher's Exact Test with α = 0.05. Result: Based on test resultsobtained the value of p, with p results 0.028 < α (0.028 < 0.05) then H0 can be rejected and it wasconcluded that there is a relationship between exposure to mass media messages (for adults) and theacceleration age of menarche in Kesatrian I-Malang Elementary School. A scientific writing usefull forreader is expected for all. Conclussion: Researchers recommend further research can be researchedabout other factors that affect the age of menarche in young women.
