SOIL QUALITY OF APPLE AGROECOSYTEM AT BATU CITY EAST JAVA BASED ON BIOINDICATOR OF COLLEMBOLA STRUCTURE COMMUNITY

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to determine the type, diversity, and evenness of Collembola in semiorganic and nonorganic apple agroecosystem. The research was conducted in the area of apple agroecosystem at Bumiaji, Batu City in December 2013 to February 2014. Step work sampling using Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility Standard and Hand Book Method. Simple random sampling was used to determine 9 plot points in each agroecosystem. Collembola were collected using pitfall traps and taking land for BarleseTullgren technic. Data were analysed descriptively using the Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index and Evenness Index. There are 3 types of Collembola found in semiorganic and nonorganic apple agroecosystem. Type Collembola found in the semiorganic and nonorganic was the same, namely Homidia cingula, Isotomurus palustris, and Pseudachorutes javanicus. Diversity Index of Collembola in semiorganic is 0.89 and nonorganic was 0.78 (low category). Evenness index of Collembola in semiorganic was 0.81 and nonorganic is 0.71 (high category). Soil quality in both of agroecosystem was relatively same, low quality (less healthy) and inhibit the Collembola life.
