Y. Yuliana

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the education system in the world, including Indonesia. The face-to-face education system is switched into an online learning system. The Minister of Culture and Education suggested implementing the concept of Freedom to Learn (Merdeka Belajar) to make the students and teachers easier in learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper aims to describe the implementation of freedom to learn during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This paper is a narrative literature review. Articles were taken from Science Direct and Google Scholar databases. Results revealed that the concept of freedom to learn is suitable to support the government systems in implementing physical and social distancing. Nadiem Markarim, as the Minister of Culture and Education, reduced the zone policy implementation for the admissions of new students and switched the national test into the school test. Conclusion: The freedom to learn a concept is suitable to be implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic to make students and teachers easier in the learning process anytime from anywhere.
