School-based management: The concept, strategy and implementation

Abstract


The implementation of school-based management includes curriculum management, faculty management, student management, fund/finance management, public relations management, professional service management, including libraries and UKS.  The management of educational institutions mainly plays a role in the development of Islamic universities.  This research method is a qualitative descriptive method with.  Data collection techniques in this study include 1) observation; 2) interview; and 3) documentation.  The results of the study indicate that the factors that encourage the implementation of school-based management include: First because schools want to achieve their own vision, mission, and goals, it is necessary to have their own initiatives. Schools and school innovations are not only static, that is, they can only listen to the government, but can be dynamic at will. Therefore, they hope that in a situation of decentralization of education, they can have sufficient power and wider space to make school power in decision-making, development, and progress, and schools become more independent, effective, and efficient in all activities. The conclusion of this research is  there are many factors that encourage the implementation of school-based management to realize a superior Islamic school.
