Needs analysis of integrated learning based on cultural literature in elementary school

Abstract


Globalization has resulted in many foreign cultures entering and becoming part of people's lives in Indonesia. One of the negative impacts of globalization is that students do not know and love Indonesian culture. Therefore, the introduction of culture and the cultivation of love for Indonesian culture are needed early. This study aims to determine the need for the development of cultural-based integrative learning. The research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The study used descriptive qualitative research methods using Focus Discussion Groups (FGD) techniques to collect data from principals and elementary school teachers in Jakarta, Lampung, and Sorong Selatan.  The results showed that the implementation of culture-based learning was still limited. Teachers teach cultural literacy when there are national activities at school or local cultural activities. Learning in elementary schools has not yet integrated cultural literacy. The integration of cultural literacy with other subjects is complicated, especially if the integration is multiliterate. Culture-based integrative learning is necessary, especially in small classes, because students need to know the environment. Local culture can be a context for introducing the environment. The conclusion of the research is the need for the development of cultural literacy-based integrative learning as an example for elementary school teachers.
